Book Publishing In A Dynamic Universe
January, 2011 - In the dynamic world of book publishing, 2010 marked the first time more titles were self-published by authors than by established publishing houses. Blue Butterfly Books celebrates this freedom to publish because publishing houses can be restrictive gate-keepers, but at the same time publishers continue as the mainstay of the book world because we also exert quality control
2010 was also the first year eBooks exceeded sales of paper-printed books. On this front, Blue Butterfly participated with Apple to launch Dan Dowhal’s compelling novel skyfisher with an iBook exclusive in August 2010, the first Canadian title so featured. Now half our titles are available through Apple (iBooks), Amazon (Kindle), Sony (eReader) and Chapters/Indigo (Kobo). All will be in eBook format by next month.
