Dorris Heffron
Dorris Heffron
Born in Noranda, Quebec, Dorris Heffron has an honours B.A. and M.A. in literature and philosophy from Queen’s University. While teaching for Oxford University throughout the 1970s, she wrote three novels about teenagers that received international aclaim as pioneering works of young adult literature. Returning to Canada in 1980, Heffron became an active member of writers’ organizations and wrote A Shark in the House, a popular adult novel. She lives with her pack and sled dogs at Little Creek Wolf Range north of Toronto.
